With Maria Aguirre

To celebrate the Copa América, which will take place from August to October 2024 in Barcelona, we intend to represent the city's connection to the nautical world at one of its historic points.

The Rambla de Mar is a walkway that connects the Portal de la Pau with the Moll d’Espanya. Inaugurated in 1994, it is considered the natural extension of La Rambla and its unofficial sixth section. The bridge was designed by Helio Piñón and Albert Viaplana. Its structure rotates to open and allow boats to enter and exit the Port Vell, the oldest part of Barcelona's harbor, which has a history of 2,000 years.

This obstacle figuratively and sculpturally represents the departure of sailboats from the center of the iconic Rambla de Mar in Barcelona. It captures the moment when sailors begin to unfurl and hoist the sails. The wind gradually envelops the sails, creating unique movements and shapes.

The horse on the course will jump at the center of the bridge as if it were a sailboat setting off to sail.
