RIO CONGO
Marina Arias
ART EXHIBITION X UKIO
As Creative Director, I led the conceptualization of the art collection series together with the artist and designed and executed the exhibition.
The collection tells us about the clay-like waters of the river, considered magical and
healing by some of the communities in Congo, as they connect them with their ancestors, whose spirits, according to belief, live in the rivers. This source of life runs through the entire region allowing cultivation and fishing.
The work is related to the water, the erosion and the sedimentation of the river and Its
nuances. The appearance of the line, the dark spots and the planes are observable in the same way that we conceive the synergy of man with the river. Fishing elements, paths
traced on the ground and organic materials forming the structure of the nearby houses
and vegetation, are represented from a higher perspective of the entire area, which
reveals the relationship between man and nature.
THE WORK IN THE SPACE
Where the work is located, when admiring it, it will refer us to the sound of flowing water, to the pleasure of observing a landscape from a distance, to the magic of a culture
and its rituals, to the connection with nature and life.
